Mediasurface Solves Newspaper Publishing Dilemma

Mediasurface announced today the integration of its Morello Web Content Management (WCM) system with WoodWing Software's "Smart Newspapers" solution. The Morello/Smart Newspaper solution allows newspaper publishers to blend media, releasing editors to concentrate on writing, rather than having to worry about how to get information published across different channels. The new solution will be exhibited this week at IfraExpo in Vienna, Europe's largest newspaper and magazine publishing event.

For over a decade, editorial departments have faced the major problem of how to create content that can be used across different channels (offline and online) from a single user interface.  Other Content Management vendors have tried to resolve this issue by using simple import / export routines to link their technology with publishing tools such as Adobe InDesign and Quark Xpress

Mediasurface however believe that newspaper publishers are looking for a best-in-class editorial system specifically aimed at newspaper production.  This has been achieved through the tight integration between Morello and the Smart Newspapers solution.  WoodWing's Smart Newspapers solution deals with the core business requirements of the newspaper publication process; content planning, gathering, selecting and editing and publishing to offline media while Morello delivers seamlessly the dynamic and instant online publication of content to multiple websites and online channels directly from within WoodWing's editorial environment.

Depending on how editorial processes are organized, content can be published fully automatically, or edited through Morello's user friendly interface before publication. In addition, the Morello/Smart Newspaper solution delivers a wide range of advanced web features including RSS, forums, subscription based personalization and much more.

Erik Schut, President of WoodWing Software comments:

"We're delighted that by working with Mediasurface we are now able to offer the newspaper industry a real solution to consolidate their content creation needs and help them solve a problem that has been bothering them for years."

Arjen van den Akker, Marketing Director, Continental Europe at Mediasurface adds:

"We appreciate the specific needs of the newspaper industry who work against tight deadlines every day. We are excited that through our combined offering we can now support the industry with this top class print and online product, where news can be issued without duplication of effort."
