\'Oscar\' Nomination for Immediacy!
Immediacy based OUT-LAW.COM nominated for 'Oscars of the internet'
Immediacy, one of the leading UK content management solution providers
(part of the Mediasurface group (UK, AIM: MSR)) announces that
Pinsent Masons’ OUT-LAW.COM has become the first website
from a non-US law firm ever to be nominated at the Webby Awards, an
international award hailed as the 'Oscars of the internet' by The New York
Times.
The Webby Awards is the leading international award honouring excellence on
the internet. OUT-LAW.COM is the only non-US website to make the shortlist
in the law category. It is the first time in 12 years of the Webby Awards
that a law firm or legal information website based outside the US has been
shortlisted.
Presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, the
winners from almost 10,000 entries are chosen by a 550-person judging
academy whose members include internet co-inventor Vinton Cerf, Simpsons'
creator Matt Groening and movie mogul Harvey Weinstein.
David-Michel Davies, executive director of the Webby Awards, said:
"The Webby Awards honours the outstanding websites that are setting
the standards for the internet. OUT-LAW.COM's Webby Award nomination is a
testament to the skill, ingenuity, and vision of its
creators.”
Redesigned in 2004, OUT-LAW.COM is one of the most popular law firm
websites in the world. Pinsent Masons chose Immediacy to replace its
proprietary CMS system following a rigorous evaluation of 127 different CMS
providers. Immediacy was selected based on its ease of use, accessibility
compliance checker, customisation features to support workflow efficiency
and search engine optimisation capabilities. Today, the website
offers more than 8,000 pages of free legal information and is used by more
than 150,000 people each month.
Struan Robertson, editor of OUT-LAW.COM and a technology lawyer at Pinsent
Masons, said:
"We're thrilled to make the shortlist. It's a great accolade for
Pinsent Masons and it's even more rewarding to learn that we're the only
law site from outside the US ever to get a nomination."
Andy Peart, Chief Marketing Officer for Mediasurface, commented:
“We’re delighted that Pinsent Masons’ OUT-LAW.COM has been
nominated at the Webby Awards and that the efforts that have been invested
in this site have been recognised in this way. We’re even more delighted
that this has been achieved by using Immediacy CMS”.
As a Webby Award nominee, OUT-LAW.COM is also eligible to win a People's Voice Award for which they compete with the other four nominees. If you like OUT-LAW, please take a couple of minutes to vote for OUT-LAW.COM. You will be asked to register first.
